White houses, turquoise sea and, of course, the windmills. With these associations in mind, we set off for this beautiful island. And what we were able to experience there exceeded all expectations — not least thanks to the very luxurious stay at the Myconian Villa Collection. Even the approximately twenty-minute journey from the airport to the hotel in the private shuttle service, with an extremely attentive driver, was a foretaste of what awaited us there. Throughout our stay, we wanted for nothing.
We had the impression that every member of staff, right up to the manager, was very attentive and that every wish was fulfilled before we had even voiced it. The Myconian Villa Collection is situated on the hillside above Elia Bay, where it has its own private beach section. The five-star hotel is part of a family-run group of nine leading luxury hotels on Mykonos. You have the choice between elegant rooms — all with sea views, optionally even with an outdoor jacuzzi or private pool — or one of the private villas accommodating up to fourteen people.
During the day you can relax on the generous sun loungers by the saltwater infinity pool. The hotel also has a spa area with numerous treatments as well as a fitness room. In the evening, the hotel’s own shuttle bus — which also runs at regular intervals during the day — takes you to Mykonos harbour.
There, dinner at the restaurant Olla is well worth it — we had the best fish of our entire trip there. And a cocktail at sunset in “Little Venice” is not to be missed either. Since many flight connections run via a stopover in Athens, it makes sense to linger there a little longer and explore Greece’s beautiful, vibrant capital city at the same time.
